fun fact! the producer of shrek based Lord Farquaad on his evil former boss, the CEO of disney, Michael Eisner. They even look the fucking same

image

in real life Eisner is pretty tall. on the other hand, the shrek producer, Jeffrey Katzenberg, is quite short . Eisner, being an asshole, once infamously said of Katenzberg, “I think I hate that little midget.”

so 5′0″ Katzenberg went and turned his asshole boss into a little person named Lord Fuckwad

yeah

this is great but i feel like a few more details need to be pointed out, such as:

  1. michael eisner was CEO of disney from 1984 thru 2005, and his direction had a sizable impact on a lot of the shitty things that came out of the company during that time period. remember all those direct-to-video sequels that were being released in the late 90s and first half of the 00s that everyone hated? ever wondered what happened to those? yeah
  2. jeffrey katzenberg was the head/chairmain of walt disney animation studios from the latter half of the 80s up until 1994. you have this man to thank for producing the films that kicked off the studio’s renaissance, and sealing the deal with the company’s partnership with pixar, which is hilarious considering the years that followed
  3. in 1994, katzenberg had his eyes set on being promoted to president of the company after the tragic death of frank wells, eisner was basically like “no, fuck you”, the growing tensions between the two + roy e disney apparently hating katzenberg’s guts eventually resulted in him being forced to resign
  4. still overwhelmingly bitter over this, katzenberg eventually went on to co-found dreamworks, heading its animation division up until a few years ago. this is why so many earlier dreamworks films focused so much on taking the piss on disney. the same man who was responsible for the disney renaissance was also responsible for the dreamworks face. incredible.

anyway if it wasn’t already obvious, from day 1 shrek was only meant to be a gigantic fuck you @ disney and the direction eisner was leading it down after the renaissance, so basing the main antagonist on that shithead of a man was really the only fitting option
